Our Non-NFA Firearms are not rifles because they do not have a stock and are not designed to be fired from the shoulder. They are not pistols because they feature a 12.5” barrel, include a vertical forward grip, and are designed to be fired with two hands. They are also not AOWs because they have an overall length greater than 26”, are not designed to be fired from the shoulder, and include a vertical forward grip.

These firearms leave the factory as Non-NFA Firearms. They are not converted or modified from existing rifles or pistols, and they ship to Virginia with a 10-round magazine.

For Virginia residents searching for a VA legal AR-style firearm, a Non-NFA “Other” configuration provides a compliant option while preserving the familiar ergonomics of the AR platform as well as the ability to remove the magazine.

Virginia Legal DS-15 Fixed Magazine Rifles

Dark Storm Industries Fixed Magazine Rifles are built with a permanently affixed 10-round magazine and are designed to comply with Virginia’s assault firearm definition.

Unlike standard AR-15 lower receivers that are modified after the fact, our patented fixed magazine lower receiver is manufactured from the start without a magazine release pocket. There is no magazine release to remove, replace, or reverse. The firearm is built as a fixed magazine rifle from the beginning.

Virginia’s law addresses certain semi-automatic centerfire rifles that have the ability to accept a detachable magazine. Our fixed magazine rifles do not have the ability to accept a detachable magazine and ship with a 10-round fixed magazine, making them a compliant option for Virginia residents.

Virginia Legal Thunderbolt Bolt Action Rifles

Dark Storm Industries Thunderbolt Bolt Action Rifles are manually operated firearms and are not semi-automatic. Virginia’s assault firearm definition does not include firearms that are manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action.

The Thunderbolt is built on our billet lower platform and is available in 5.56 and .300 Blackout. Because it is manually operated by bolt action, it provides a Virginia legal firearm option for customers who want a detachable magazine platform without falling under the semi-automatic assault firearm restrictions.
