Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the ordering process for serialized items, including complete firearms and lower receivers?
A: All serialized items must ship to a Federal Firearms License holder. Purchase your firearm or lower receiver as you would any other item and enter your actual shipping address, not the address of the FFL receiving the firearm.
After you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation email with instructions explaining how your FFL can submit its license information.
For help finding a dealer that can facilitate your firearm transfer, use our Dealer Locator. If your receiving FFL is listed, enter the dealer in the order comments during checkout and no further action is required. If the dealer is not listed, follow the instructions in your order confirmation or have the dealer submit its information here.
Q: What if my local FFL says they will not accept the transfer?
A: This can happen occasionally in restricted states, especially where laws have recently changed. The dealer may not understand the firearm configuration or the laws as written for your state. If a firearm is listed on our website as legal for your state, it is configured for that jurisdiction. If your dealer does not want to facilitate the transfer, use our Dealer Locator to find another dealer near you.
Q: How long does it take to ship my order?
A: All products available on our website are built to order. Please allow up to three weeks for processing and shipment.
Q: How do I determine what is legal for me to own in my state?
A: If you live in a restricted state, select State Compliant Firearms and choose your state. The state page provides a brief overview of the applicable laws and displays the firearm configurations available to you. Select a configuration tile to view the corresponding products.
Q: Are your fixed magazine firearms proprietary?
A: Our fixed magazine firearms are built to mil-spec dimensions. Standard aftermarket mil-spec components will fit our fixed magazine lowers. The receivers have the same dimensions as our standard lowers except they are manufactured without the ability to accept a magazine release.
Q: What if the law changes in my state or I move to an unrestricted state?
A: We developed our Lower Swap Program so original owners can continue enjoying their Dark Storm Industries firearms after moving or after a change in state law. The program is available only to the original owner of a complete DSI firearm. Stripped and complete lower receivers do not qualify.
After you move or the law changes, purchase a Lower Swap and upload a copy of your new state identification. You then send us your stripped fixed magazine lower receiver, and we send you a replacement standard lower receiver.
The replacement includes a letter documenting that we possess the original serial-numbered receiver and that it has been replaced with the new receiver. The replacement lower will ship directly to the address shown on your state identification with a signature required. No FFL is required because the transaction is treated as a warranty repair under ATF rules.
Q: Is the DS-25 compatible with AR-10 uppers and parts?
A: No. The DS-25 is a small-frame, large-caliber platform that combines characteristics of the AR-10 and AR-15. It has more in common with the AR-15. AR-15 small parts, triggers, and handguards are compatible with the DS-25. Standard AR-10 components are not.
Q: Is there a speed loader for the DS-25 line?
A: Current speed loaders are designed for 5.56 and .300 Blackout fixed magazine firearms. There is currently no speed loader available for the DS-25 fixed magazine platform.
Q: Do your firearms include a warranty?
A: Yes. Our firearms are guaranteed for life with a fully transferable warranty. Complete warranty information is available here.
Q: Where are your products made?
A: Our firearm components and complete firearms are proudly manufactured at our facility in Rockledge, Florida, using domestically sourced materials.
Q: Do you publish full specifications for each model?
A: Yes. Each product page includes detailed specifications and configuration notes. Digital copies of our product manuals are available here.
