The DS-15 MFR Maryland HBAR Rifle combines the advanced features of Dark Storm Industries' Modern Fighting Rifle with a purpose-built heavy-barrel configuration for Maryland customers. Built around forged 7075 receivers, a 16-inch HBAR-profile 5.56 NATO barrel, and full ambidextrous controls, the MFR delivers a feature-rich Maryland HBAR AR-15 platform designed for hard use and reliable operation.

The 16-inch heavy-profile barrel is manufactured from premium 4150 CMV steel, button-rifled with a 1:9 twist, and paired with a carbine-length direct-impingement gas system. A pinned gas block provides a robust, serviceable gas system, while the black nitride barrel treatment provides increased durability and corrosion resistance. Up front, the DSI W.T.F. Flash Hider is designed to reduce visible muzzle flash compared with a traditional A2-style flash hider.

The MFR's 15-inch free-float M-LOK handguard provides a rigid mounting platform for optics, lasers, and accessories. Its barrel nut also functions as a heat sink to help transfer heat away from the chamber area. The DSI Chainlink handguard-to-upper tether and removable stainless indexing dowels further reinforce the connection between the handguard and upper receiver.

Full ambidextrous controls include the DSI Atach™ charging handle, 90-degree safety selector, bolt catch and release, and magazine release. A premium DLC-coated two-stage flat-blade trigger provides a 3.5 lb pull and short reset, while the DSI Mil+ dual-ejector bolt carrier group uses an ArmorLube nitride/DLC coating for reduced friction and wear.

The forged upper receiver includes a serviceable steel charging-handle retention pin, countersunk E-clip, and an additional rear Picatinny rail slot. The rifle is equipped with a Magpul DT adjustable stock and Magpul K2 pistol grip on DSI's Mil+ carbine buffer system.

The receiver set and handguard are Type III hardcoat anodized and finished with Cerakote Gen 2 IR signature-reduction coating for reduced infrared reflectivity under night-vision illumination.
